Southampton defender Kyle Walker-Peters says he is fine with his side being labelled as underdogs for promotion.

Saints have 10 remaining games this season and still have to visit the three teams above them in the Championship table, over whom they have matches in hand.

They play Ipswich on Monday, Leicester on 23 April and Leeds in the final game of the campaign on 4 May.

"If others want to write us off then they're free to do that," he said.

"We're growing massively as a team, the unbeaten run showed that," Walker-Peters added to BBC Radio Solent.

"We're looking at the 10 more games as 10 finals, we want to reach our goal."

Russell Martin's side are fourth in the Championship table, nine points behind leaders Leeds United.

But they have two games in hand over Daniel Farke's side and Ipswich, and have played one game less than second-placed Leicester.

Martin said he was also content that few were looking at them to go up automatically.

"It is going to be a really busy five weeks and I think everyone is excited about it," Martin said before Friday's home game against Middlesbrough.

"I think the beautiful thing for us is that we have been written off by everyone.

"We have a tough game against Middlesbrough who are in good form. They have been unlucky if you look at their data and they probably should be higher up the table.

"Over the international break, the guys that have been here have been fantastic. I have really enjoyed working with them."
