Luton Town forward Jacob Brown will not play again this season following ankle surgery.

The Scotland international had to go off during their 0-0 draw with Middlesbrough on 15 March, just 14 minutes after being sent on as a second-half substitute.

Brown joined Luton from Stoke City in the summer of 2023 and has made 52 appearances for the club, 19 of them in the Premier League last season.

"Browny is one of the most honest, hard-working guys I've come across in the game in terms of his honesty for himself and the group," said boss Matt Bloomfield.

"He was actually doing really well as a finisher recently, impacting games, so we are bitterly disappointed to lose him for the rest of the season."

Luton are next to bottom of the Championship, four points from safety, and have eight games left to save themselves from a second successive relegation, the first of them away to Hull City on Saturday.

In a message to supporters, Brown said: "I am gutted that I will not be able to help the team and this club on the pitch in these final games but I will do everything I can to support the boys from the sideline. We need your support now more than ever ready for the final push.

"Injuries, as difficult as they are, are part and parcel of the game and through experience I know I will come through the other side stronger. See you soon, Browny."

There is good news for Luton, however, with midfielder Tahith Chong returning to full training for the first time since January.

The 25-year-old has been out with a hamstring injury but could come back into contention for Saturday's Championship fixture against Hull City.

"To have him back available and be able to work with him for the first time since we've been here is exciting, because he's a real attacking threat and gives us extra options," added Bloomfield, who was appointed two months ago
